Dr. Robert Abel's Eye Care Revolution

Written by ophthalmologist Dr. Robert Abel, Jr, MD, The Eye Care Revolution is a gem of a book for anyone interested in an evidence-based holistic approach to preventing and treating common eye problems.

About the Book

Dr. Abel's Eye Care Revolution

Subtitled Prevent and Reverse Common Vision Problems, Dr. Abel's Eye Care Revolution is an authoritative all-in-one guide to holistic eye care. In addition to covering conventional methods used to treat eye problems, this groundbreaking book also provides ample information about nutritional, herbal, homeopathic, and Asian therapies.

You will learn, for example, that a high intake of the carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin, which are abundant in green leafy vegetables such as collard greens and spinach, have been associated with a low incidence of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and cataracts. And that the sulfur in garlic, onions and shallots is needed for the production of glutathione, an antioxidant that helps protect the lense of the eye.

In addition to providing plenty of diet-related and other tips on how to lower your risk of age-related macular degeneration and cataracts, The Eye Care Revolution also provides tips on how to prevent and/or treat other common eye problems including dry eyes, diabetes-related vision loss, and glaucoma.

Dr. Abel has also dedicated an entire chapter, titled "The Eye as a Mirror", to explaining how the health of the eyes and your overall health are interrelated, and why it is often impossible to treat an eye condition without healing the rest of the body.
