How to Freeze Almond Pulp

Frozen Almond Pulp

Almond milk is a great, nutrient-rich option for those of us who are vegan, lactose intolerant, or just don't want to consume dairy. It is also relatively easy to make at home. However, the process of making almond milk at home can leave you with a pile of almond pulp. The good news is that there are tons of different ways to use leftover almond pulp, so nothing goes to waste! And, if you don't have the time to use it all up right away, freezing the pulp for later use is also a great option. The frozen pulp can then easily be thawed out later on to make various recipes. Here's how to freeze almond pulp:

  1. Put the almond pulp into an ice cube tray, and place the ice cube tray in your freezer.
  2. Once the pulp is frozen, pop the cubes out of the ice cube tray.
  3. Put the almond pulp cubes into freezer bags, and remove as much air as possible from the bags.
  4. Seal and label the bags, and store them in the freezer until you are ready to use your frozen almond pulp.
  5. Keep in mind that frozen almond pulp cannot be re-frozen once it has been thawed.

Now, you might be wondering why bother with the extra step of pre-freezing the pulp in an ice cube tray when it's so much easier to just put it straight into a freezer bag and be done with it. The reason is pretty simple: if you freeze almond pulp in the form of small cubes, rather than as a big block, you can just reach in and grab a cube or two whenever you like, without having to thaw an entire bag.
