NutriBullet Balance vs Vitamix Blenders: Comparison

Are you thinking about getting the NutriBullet Balance or a Vitamix blender, but don't know which one to choose? Or perhaps you are simply wondering how the much-coveted NutriBullet Balance compares against the classic Vitamix blenders? Either way, read on for a detailed NutriBullet Balance vs Vitamix comparison.

Single Model vs Many Models

First of all, the NutriBullet Balance nutrient extractor is a single blender, whereas Vitamix is a company that has designed and manufactured tons of different types of blenders. This, of course, makes comparing the NutriBullet Balance with Vitamix a bit tricky. In the rest of this article, we will focus on those Vitamix products that serve functions similar to the NutriBullet Balance.

Smart Technology

Vitamix Smart Scale
The Vitamix Smart Scale is available through Amazon. You can use it with any Vitamix blender.

The NutriBullet Balance comes with a built-in scale and a Bluetooth connection. There is also an accompanying app, available for Apple iOS and Android mobile devices, which communicates wirelessly with your blender. Based on your dietary goals and restrictions, as well as your preferences, the app recommends recipes to you and walks you step-by-step through whichever recipe you pick. The app also gives you nutritional information about the recipe, including calories, protein, carbs, sugar, and fiber. Vitamix, by contrast, sells a stand-alone smart scale that connects to an app on your smart phone or tablet via Bluetooth. The Vitamix scale and recipe app work more or less the same way as the app and build-in scale of the NutriBullet Balance. The only major difference is that you will have to buy the scale separately, which is not necessarily a bad thing, especially if you already have a Vitamix blender at home.

Capacity

The NutriBullet Balance is a personal-size blender designed for making single and double servings of smoothies and liquid meals. The Balance has a maximum capacity of 24 ounces. Vitamix blenders, by contrast, come in a variety of sizes. The personal blenders in the Vitamix S-Series (the S30, S50 and S55) come with two blending containers: a tall 20-ounce container for making individual smoothies to-go, and a wider 40-ounce container for making small family meals. Most full-size Vitamix blenders, by contrast, come with a 64-ounce blending container.

Motor

NutriBullet Balance
The NutriBullet Balance, available here through Amazon, is even more powerful than the Vitamix S-Series personal blenders.

The NutriBullet Balance comes with a powerful 1,200-watt motor, allowing your to liquefy even the toughest smoothie ingredients like ice, frozen fruits and fibrous green leafy vegetables. Your average personal-size blender typically features a 300- or 400-watt motor, so in terms of power, the Balance really stands out in the personal blender category. Even the personal blenders in Vitamix' S-Series cannot beat the NutriBullet Balance in terms of power: the Vitamix S30, S50 and S55 operate at only 790 watts (or 840 at peak). The full-size Vitamix blenders, by contrast, are in a completely different league, with newer models such as the Vitamix 5200, Vitamix Professional 750, and the Ascent Series blenders featuring 2-peak or 2.2-peak horsepower motors.

Price

Given its powerful motor and Bluetooth-enabled built-in scale, it is not surprising that the NutriBullet Balance comes with a pretty hefty price tag. (click here to see how much it currently sells for on Amazon). But Vitamix blenders, even the smaller personal-size models, are not cheap gadgets, either. The nice thing is that if you already have a Vitamix at home and you want to take your blending to the next level by connecting to an app, all you need to do is get the Vitamix Perfect Blend Smart Scale and download the companion app. To check the current price of the Smart Scale on Amazon, click here.
